Canopy Tour Pictures!!!

Greatest Canopy Tour Ever!!!

Hey guys! so today I went on a canopy tour in Montezuma, it was amazing!!! I had so much fun, and met some cool people too! We zip lined through the rain forest canopy and had a blast! I got to be the first one to go too, so everyone else got to see me do it! No worried I did it with no problem! We also got to swim in the Montezuma Waterfall! First I jumped in from about 20ft and then jumped off a rope! I had so much fun I jumped in off the rocks about 4 times!!! Then we continued on zip lining through the canopy and I have never seen the rain forest in such a cool way! It was my favorite activity ever!!! I will upload the pictures later when I'm not using such a slow computer!

Montezuma Butterfly Garden

THese are pictures of me at work and out at Cabo Blanco

Well today was an interesting day! I went to Montezuma to hang out and go to the butterfly gardens! Two of the other girls and I caught the bus in the morning to Montezuma and headed off on our adventure! We walked around Montezuma for a few hours going to shops and just seeing the little town. Then we decided it was time to take the trek up the hill to the butterfly garden. what we didn't know was that the butterfly garden was up a huge hill! So we walked up the hill during the hottest time of day to find this pretty cool garden! Let me tell you it was hot, but worth it! We saw about 10 different species of butterflies! They are very beautiful and I got a lot of great pictures as well! After our excursion to the gardens we walked back to town and had a great lunch(well at least it tasted so good due to the fact that we were so hungry) After that we decided it was time to head back to Cabuya and relax! Tomorrow I will volunteer the tour shift in the morning at Rainsong and work with the animals again!

Friday!

Hey everyone!
Well it´s been an interesting few days! As you can see from the pictures we have an array of animals at Rainsong! We also get new animals all the time, so the things we are doing are always changing! Today we got a baby howler monkey that had been abandoned by it´s troup after being attacked by it! IT´s really cute, but it was so scared when we got it that it´s already bit two people. I so far have not been bit by it but there is still a week left for me here wo wish me luck! It´s pretty cool working with the animals (well not cleaning up their poop) but the rest of it is cool!
Yesterday I had the day off and went hiking at Cabo Blanco NAture Preserve, the first ever nature preserve in Costa Rica! It´s was really beautiful, plus we saw a bunch of monkey´s and birds and some kawatis! We hiked for a total of about 6 miles and then wanted to die when we got home!
I´m planing on going to Montezuma in the next few days to go on a Zipline Canopy tour and am really excited about that! But really I´m excited to get back to the US. Life in a third world country isn´t as pleseant as you would think! I can´t wait to take a hot shower! or even a luke warm shower would be nice! anyways I miss you all and can´t wait to see you and talk to you when I get home!

Rainsong

HEy everyone! I´m at Rainsong volunteering now! It´s pretty cool and not a ton of work, but it´s all with animals so I enjoy it a lot! We have about 10 animals and most are really cool wild animals that you wouldn´t see anywhere! I will upload pictures so you can see what I´m talking about! we have a Kinkaju, 3 raccoons, 3 porccupines, 2 parrots, a bunch of parakeets, two baby deer (really cute!) an anteater, a toucan, a bunch of river turtles, a margay cat and white faced capuchin monkey, a skunk and a few more that I´m trying to think of right now! Every day we feed them and clean their cages!
As for where I´m staying, I´m in a town called Cabuya about 15 to 20 minutes out of Montezuma(i.e. in the middle of nowhere!) I´m staying in this house that was made into a hostel and share a room with a gril who is also volunteering at rainsong! the place is right on the beach and is pretty rustic. We only have cold showers, but at least there are windows! which is more than I can say for my house in Pavones! aNyways I hope you are all enjoying the pictures I will have new ones up either tomorrow or the next day!

In San Jose!

Hey everyone! I´m in San Jose for tonight and last night. I got here at 1am this morning and will leave for Montezuma at 6am tomorrow morning! Yesterday was a super long day, I got up at 6am to finish packing my stuff to leave for the boarder with my bosses at 8:30 only to find out they were having car trouble and not to leave until 9:40. Then we drove for 2 hours to the boarder so i could catch a 1pm bus to San Jose to find out that there was no 1pm bus and that i had to wait until 5pm in the next town Ciudad Neily until it got there. So we went to lunch and then I waited in the nasty bus terminal for 3.5 hours. Then I got to sit on a bus for 8 hours to San Jose lucky me! When I got to San Jose I froze my but off in a taxi for 30min to Alajeula where I am staying! I was supposed to be on a bus to Montezuma this morning at 6am, but no luck and have to wait to go tomorrow. Then my next adventure will begin! I will go to Cabuya to a place called Rainsong for 2 weeks to volunteer. Like I said before it`s a wildlife refuge with an animal hospital! I will also get to do some tourist stuff like do a canopy tour and go to the Montezuma Butterfly Garden! Anyways that is what I´ve been up too! Hopefully I will be able to get back online soon!

Update about Earthquake!

Hey everyone! Not to worry I'm fine, I'm still in pavones and not anywhere near where the earthquake was. Though I was supposed to go to San Jose today. Keep your eyes on the news though because they think the Volcano that has been dormit for 120 years might irrupt. Don't know what will happen if that happens but I will let you know! I'm still planning on going to Montezuma to Raingsong next week, but will have to wait and see because of all this mess! Will keep you all updated!

Lazy Week!

Hey Everyone!
Well I've spent the last few days doing nothing! I finished my three weeks in a row and decided I would chill out for a week! This weekend I am headed to the North to travel around and then to volunteer for 2 weeks at a Wildlife Refuge called Rainsong. I will get to work with hurt animals and help out there at there hospital and around their cages! I think it will also be a lot like Dophin Quest which I liked a lot because I learned so much! But before that I will hopefully be staying in Monteverde with a girl who stayed with me here in Pavones! Her friend has a house there and she said I might be able to stay with them! That would be awesome because there is so much to do and see there that I wouldn't get board! Plus my other options is to go to Tamarindo and I hear it isn't so nice. I guess it's a lot like Waikiki and I've been there, done that, so I don't really care! Anyways hope to hear from everyone about what's been going on everywhere else! Miss you all!

Happy NEw Year!

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2009! Can't believe I rang in the new year in Costa Rica!!! We had a lot of fun, we went to Matapalo during the day and saw soooo many monkeys!!! THose are all the cool monkey shots below! We saw three types of monkeys one being the endangered spider monkeys! We also went surfing and had pina coladas by the pool! For dinner we went to la Pina rock and had an amazing dinner (once again) out on the rock! We watched the sunset and ate great food! After dinner we went to La Manta and danced the night away! I had lots of fun and got to party with the whole town! Yesterday we went to Tiskita and saw more monkeys and a three toed sloth! It was so close to us that we could see its face smiling at us! Tonight we go to dinner at hotel Castillo and have a 7 coarse meal!!! So I guess you can say I had a great week! Hope everyone else had great new years as well!
